On Monday, North Carolina Governor Josh Stein issued an executive order to create an advisory board to explore a comprehensive approach to regulating cannabis and hemp. The executive order claims that hospital visits for teens have increased up to 1,000% over the last few years which the executive order ties directly to cannabis and hemp being unregulated in the state. The advisory board will consist of up to 30 members from various government, medical, and business communities. The executive order states that the advisory board “shall” submit its final recommendations (including legislation) by December 31, 2026.
